Fertility Advisors Hosts Live Online Events to Raise Awareness on Infertility in Canada

Many Canadian men and women live each day silently struggling with Infertility. When people reach the age of adulthood and decide to start a family, they naturally assume that they will easily be able to become pregnant. For 1 in every 6 Canadians, this is not the case. Many of those struggling live with an additional burden of shame that society places on them due to the taboo nature of Infertility, Fertility Advisors is excited to be working with members of the Fertility and Adoption Communities to be breaking down this stigma, and shedding light on an ever-growing Canadian Health Issue.

Fertility Advisors will present 1 Facebook Live Interview with a specialist in the Fertility world, or someone who wants to share their stories on their journey and battle with Infertility. These Live Facebook events will take place starting on May 7th, and will continue for 6 days, each day to represent 1 of those 6 individuals who battle with Infertility. The guests will be Leia Swanberg, Cindy Wasser, Mira Galloway, Jessica Gibeau, Michelle Stroud and 6 experienced Canadian Gestational Surrogates.

"For me, it is about making that road as smooth as I can; I want everyone to know they are not alone, they do not need to hide. This is real life, it is happening all around us every day, and it is time to stand up and say: We are with you."

Leia Swanberg, CEO Of Fertility Advisors

Leia Swanberg is the CEO of Fertility Advisors and Canadian Fertility Consulting and has been a surrogate twice, and an egg donor six times. This fantastic, inspiring woman has helped thousands of people have their dreams come true by helping them become parents. "For me, it is about making that road as smooth as I can," said CEO Leia Swanberg on these Facebook Live events, "I want everyone to know they are not alone, they do not need to hide. This is real life, it is happening all around us every day, and it is time to stand up and say: We are with you."

Cindy Wasser is a hard-working woman, who never expected to have to battle with the heart-breaking thought of not being able to have a child. Cindy found someone who could help make her dreams come true, and she had a beautiful little daughter using the assistance of one ovum donor, and two gestational carriers. Because of the journey she has had and the experiences, she has changed her field from being a Criminal Lawyer to begin her legal practice in Fertility Law. After struggling with infertility in her past, she is a mother through surrogacy and a leading Canadian Fertility Lawyer.

Two strong, beautiful, brave women who have both struggled with Infertility but with two completely different situations, and are wanting to share their stories, are Mira Galloway and Jessica Gibeau.

Mira Gallaway is a mother through domestic adoption. She and her husband wanted to build their family, have their child to hold, and love and protect, but that wasn’t an option "naturally"  for Mira and her husband. Mira had seven rounds of IUI, two full IVF cycles and one donor embryo transfer; she had tried everything and eventually, the heartbreaking reality came forward and she knew she was not able to maintain a pregnancy. Even through the heartbreaking news, Mira and her husband knew there was another option, and bravely made the decision to adopt. Through the adoption process Mira and her husband became parents to a beautiful little girl! Mira and her husband proudly built their family in their hearts, and the love they have for their little girl shines brightly through her adorable face!

Jessica Gibeau and her fiancé, James Leavitt, struggled through an extremely emotionally and mentally hard time when James was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. After a 14-hour surgery, 4 months of Chemotherapy and a brave battle, James was strong and overcame his diagnosis. Jessica and two-year-old son Remington were the hands holding him together, and keeping him strong through. After this valiant battle, their family became stronger. However, unfortunately, after treatment they were given the heartbreaking news that they were infertile. After such a heartbreaking diagnosis, this family has come so far. Their only dream today is to complete their family and make Remington’s dream of becoming a big brother come true. Because of the help Jessica and James have received, and knowing they were not alone in this journey, they have begun immense fundraising efforts and ended up with enough IVF, and are about to have their fairy tale ending as she is finishing up her third trimester.

Michelle Stroud is a Holistic fertility coach, and at the age of 18, she discovered reflexology and immediately connected. At the age of 21, Michelle found her path and started her reflexology training with the Ontario College of Reflexology. Our last Facebook Live Interview will be with 6 of CFC team members who are also experienced surrogates out of the St. Thomas office on May 12th. They will be talking about the beauty of their surrogacy, and the most memorial moments, and the hardest times they’ve experienced. These beautiful ladies are willing to answer questions about their struggles with infertility, and questions about their intended parents.
